In my opinion, these run large. I initially purchased them on wast size though, and since I'm pregnant, that meant there was zero compression in the legs for me. So, lesson learned, you need to go by the leg measurements. I ended up reordering several sizes smaller, and then these worked out fine. My only real complaint is how see-through they are. They're not very thick, they're definitely not intended to be squat-proof, but they're someplace between tights and bad leggings. And they are HOT (as in warm, nobody ever thought compression tights were sexy), so be fore-warned. But, if you need them, you need them, so you put up with it. They are comfortable once you get your size right, wash well, and even being 8 months pregnant I did not experience digging with the waist band in a size medium/small, and my belly is huge. Seriously, I'm 5 foot 6, maybe 170 at that juncture, and it was all forward baby belly, so truly, go by leg measurements. I wore them daily for several weeks, and they're still like new, so they hold up great.
