My pickleball partner suggested using weight-lifting gloves to improve hold of the racquet and reduce wrist tiredness. At least for him, it worked.
The product page suggested full palm protection, strong wrist support, and anti-slip construction – all features that can make a difference in the game. So I decided to try using these "Workout Gloves for Men and Women" too.
I followed the sizing recommendations (measuring palm circumference), so the size was right.
I first tried the gloves for weight training, and the grip was more comfortable. So I decided to use them for pickleball.
The gloves did improve my game. The grip was very tight without effort, the feeling was like the handle was sticking to my palm, but most importantly, it was comfortable to have a longer grip, holding the handle by the very end. Using the same acceleration, this grip gave more momentum and strength to the shots! The only problem was that unless an extreme western grip is used, control was not achievable. Also, because of the thicker pads on the gloves, the racquet handle felt too thin. I adjusted that by using another layer of the overgrip.
After all adjustments, I had a feeling that I improved my game significantly. In a week I was using these gloves, I was consistently beating players that, as I thought, were stronger than me. I have to mention also that after the game, my wrist did not feel tired, and there were no unpleasant sensations. I highly recommend these "Workout Gloves for Men and Women" to improve your pickleball game!
